Certainly some could argue the consequences of a rogue AI could be far more damaging, but often these concerns can be far overstated. Kind of like how CGI was going to replace real actors or how the phonograph was going to put an end to live music. The potential benefits for students and professionals using AI in the business world are simply too profound to ignore.
ChatGPT offers an unprecedented ability to draft, summarize, translate, and generate text at a scale and speed that eclipses human capacity. It can aid in everything from drafting emails and reports to brainstorming ideas, compiling research, and even engaging in customer service. Like the synthesizer, it is not a replacement for human creativity, but a tool that can enhance it. Also similar is the misunderstanding that creating something that is engaging is simple.
AI Musicians: Disrupting the Music Industry and Redefining Copyright Boundaries

To deny them this would be a severe disservice, a detrimental hindrance to their professional development.
The synthesizer didn’t eradicate musicianship; instead, it expanded the realm of what was musically possible. Similarly, ChatGPT and similar AI technologies are not here to eliminate human involvement in business processes, but rather to enhance it, to allow us to explore new ways of doing things that were previously beyond our grasp.
The message here is clear: embrace the AI revolution. Make it a part of your teaching, your learning, and your practice. The synthesizer didn’t kill music; it revolutionized it. Similarly, AI isn’t here to eliminate jobs; it’s here to transform them. Let’s prepare our students for that transformation, and in the process, let’s transform ourselves.
